Another broad area of blowing dust over Texas was spotted by weather satellites on Wednesday, a day after a significant dust storm across parts of Texas and Oklahoma.
Satellite imagery shared by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere at Colorado State University shows a clearly defined band of dust blowing southeast across Texas on Wednesday.
Wind advisories were in effect Tuesday and Wednesday, with gusts recorded up to 70 mph in Texas and 80 mph in Oklahoma, according to the National Weather Service.
The blowing dust caused a multi-vehicle wreck that temporarily shut down U.S. Route 54 west of Goodwell, Okla., on Tuesday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The dust storms were followed by a cold front, with snow in the Oklahoma panhandle Wednesday, weather officials said.
