Snowfall of Thursday from Wisconsin to Missouri was captured on satellite imagery in a remarkably well-defined band, weather officials said.
National Weather Service field offices on Wednesday recorded several inches of wet, heavy snow in Wisconsin and flurries with light accumulation in Missouri.
Satellite imagery shared by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere at Colorado State University shows “a clear view of a relatively narrow but prominent snow band stretching from Wisconsin to Missouri.”
The National Weather Service reported 7 inches of snow in Madison, Wis., and 9 inches of snow in Dubuque, Iowa, on Wednesday. The agency reported 2.7 inches of snow at Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, Mo.
