Electric-car maker Polestar is branching out with a new, sustainable treehouse. The KOJA treehouse, designed by Finnish designer Kristian Talvitie, won the honorable mention in the 2021 Polestar Design Contest, the theme of which was progress with a focus climate. The minimalist treehouse design utilizes sustainable materials such as wood and wool. And we were all impressed enough to realize it in real life, Polestar said in a statement. Most designers look at the design from a user perspective. I also look at things from the environment’s perspective, Talvitie said. The treehouse was built in Fiskars, an art and design hub in southwestern Finland. The Fiskars Village Art and Design Biennale is already home to other micro-spaces and ecological mini-houses. A video shows the treehouse being constructed deep in the Finnish forest, high up in the trees. The structure is pod-like, with large windows providing unbroken views on three sides. It’s amazing how well it embodies our brand values, Martin sterberg, Head of Marketing for Polestar Finland, said in a statement. It’s beautiful in its simplicity, and the fact that it’s made from locally sourced spruce really emphasizes our focus on sustainability.
