Jupiter and Venus Shine Brightly in Conjunction as seen from Chennai, India

Venus and Jupiter appeared to “kiss” just above the western horizon Wednesday evening, according to U.S. space agency NASA.
A video shared by Twitter user @yestojay shows the Jupiter–Venus conjunction as seen from Chennai, India.
The conjunction appeared as evening twilight ended, when the two brightest planets were visible just half a degree apart, NASA said. Over time, they appeared to move closer together, and about 90 minutes later, they seemed to touch.
Such a planetary conjunction is not particularly rare. Jupiter and Venus aligned on April 30, 2022, according to NASA.
While Venus is closer to the sun than Earth is, and Jupiter is much farther away, their orbits occasionally align, giving the illusion of closer proximity in the sky.
