The last full moon of winter rose on Tuesday night, known as the “Worm Moon,” according to the Old Farmers Almanac.
A video shared by Twitter user @svny01 shows the full moon with a glowing halo in a cloudy sky over Bergen County, N.J. Tuesday night.
According to the Old Farmers Almanac, the name of the Worm Moon likely refers to the beetle larvae that emerge from the thawed bark of trees, not the ordinary earthworms that appear in spring.
The full moon of March is also known as the Lenten Moon when it arrives before the spring equinox, which is on March 20 this year.
