NASA reveals stunning images from International Space Station

Over the past year, NASA has been releasing other-worldly images of our own planet taken from the International Space Station (ISS). Here is an amazing view of the moon setting below Earth’s horizon, taken while the ISS was orbiting near the Himalayas in June. See the sun’s incredible rays as it illuminates the curvature of the Earth near Western Australia. The ISS also captured this image of an aurora above clouds in the South Pacific. In addition, NASA has released beautiful images of Earth’s surface, such as these views of Italy and Sardinia. The difference in topography is striking between this view of the northern portion of San Francisco bay and this image of Kansas farmland. Lucky astronauts aboard the ISS were even able to capture images of a partial lunar eclipse, which occurred due to Earth’s shadow.
