Disney Parks and Experiences Chairman Josh DAmaro unveiled a “real” retractable lightsaber at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas, on Saturday.
A video shared by Rohit Thawani shows DAmaro on stage during his presentation on “The Art & Science of Disney Parks Storytelling,” and he activates the lightsaber, extending the glowing light.
“I have the coolest job in the world,” DAmaro says. “Im holding a real lightsaber.”
DAmaro said the lightsaber is part of Disneys Galactic Starcruiser Experience. Leslie Evans, head of R&D for Disney Imagineering, joins him on stage to talk about the unique lightsaber, she is holding a version that shows a clear tube extending from the hilt, which does not appear to be retractable.
